Just last weekend, I was elected Vice-President (Education) of the McMaster Students Union. Its a full-time job I’m incredibly excited for. I get to spend the next year of my life talking about/dealing with education, a subject I am incredibly interested in and passionate about.
It also means I’m on the Board of Directors for one of the largest student organizaitons in Canada, which is likely going to be a humbling experience. This is kind of scary for a guy with as huge an ego as me. However, I’m serving with a group of people that I believe in. I think that with a little luck and a lot of hard work, we can achieve the kind of great things we came here to acheive.
The original pressings of Armed Forces by Elvis Costello had this 45 included with a live recording of Watching the Detectives.
The show was from Hollywood High School, which had this motto: Achieve the Honorable.
Today I sat and listened to that album and reflected on Hollywood High School’s motto. I started a new blog in part, because I’m not the same person I was when I updated my livejournal back in High School. I’m going to be talking about different things here. I’m going to be trying to have an honest dialogue with myself and whoever reads this.
The farther I get from my youth, the further I descend into the shades-of-grey world of adulthood, the more I think it is important to keep communicating whats going on beneath the surface.
